Sounds like Tanners interest in this team is capsizing. - Guile
Not at all. I think it's been a great series. I hope the Caps win. But I'm not going to recap games, and I'm not going to sit here and pretend that the Caps have a comprable roster to the best team in the NHL.
I feel like it's obvious to say every series comes down to goaltending, because it does. The goalie who lets in less wins the series, but obviously there's more nuance to that.
In this case I think the real x-factor is not goaltending, but the Caps negating the Crosby line. The Pens depth-scoring is basically non-existent and Phil is clearly dealing with that shoulder issue he got hit with before the season ended.
Yeah, Hotlby needs to be good, but he has been. I can't think of many bad goals he's let in this series.
With the way the bottom nine is playing, if the Caps can knock Sid's line off their game they have a great chance of closing this out.
I'd find it pretty hard for Holtby to play better than he has. He's been great.
I'd put it on offense. Even last night when the Pens were playing good D the Capitals had odd man rushes. Convert on odd man rushes and the series is the Caps.

Oh, come on! This is a coin flip series. The Caps have as much of a chance to move on as the Pens do. The games have been close, the Pens (besides the 1st line) are not exactly firing on all cylinders. We are a few Letang turnovers and high glove shots on Murray away from Caps taking full control.
I Love how the Caps blogger has spent the whole year talking about how bad this team is, how terrible the coaching and management is, and how numerous players are not NHL caliber. Not sure if the blogger has noticed but they beat a team he thought was the best in the league 4-2 last series. All games were pretty close and good games. They are keeping up, if I may say actually outperforming the Penguins in this series as well as finished first in the Metro. Yet, he still hasn't accepted the fact that this is a good club that can really put it together. Not sure, but 82 games is a large enough sample size to prove these things.
These blogs are horrible, constantly just ripping on the Capitals. I guess that's why we have limited fan base on this website.

I spent all last year talking about how good they were. I just try to be objective.

It's just that Tanner isn't really a fan of the Caps. He is more just a fan of saying things that he thinks people will disagree with, and will focus that on whichever team he happens to be assigned to cover. So at this point, he is far more invested in feeling vindicated for saying the Caps aren't very good all year than he is in seeing the Caps win. Of course, how he'll convince himself that the Caps having the exact same result this year as they did last year proves he was right is a whole other issue.

I need more high-glove Saturday.
Why they shied away from the-gift-that-keeps-on-giving is beyond me.
